Japanese Typewriter Styles

Style One: This is the oldest style of Japanese-made portable typewriters. Designed in 1959 by Akio Kondo, and called the Brother typewriter, it was the longest-lived style--production of it ended in 1990. The typewriter below is a 1970s version of this design.

Style Two: This style of portable typewriter is based on that of the Brother typewriter, but is more angular. It was designed by G-K Design, of Tokyo, Japan.

This blog picks up where Silver-Reed Research left off. At first, much of the same content will be used. There are many portable typewriters that were manufactured in Nagoya, Japan. I felt that there needed to be a blog of research devoted to the plethora of different versions of four basic styles of Japanese portable typewriters.
